The University of A Coruña (UDC), a partner in the AOFFTECH project, will participate on 20 October in the 7th International Conference on Offshore Renewable Energies (RENEW 2026), which will take place from 20 to 22 October at the Congress Centre of Instituto Superior Técnico in Lisbon, Portugal.
Pedro Fernández, a researcher at UDC, will present the paper “AOFFTECH: European collaboration for the sustainable future of floating wind power”, co-authored by V. Díaz Casas, R. Ríos Prado, P. M. Fernández Rodríguez and F. Nieto Mouronte. The presentation is part of the Wind Energy 1 session, scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, 20 October, in Room 02.2.
During the presentation, the UDC team will introduce the objectives and transnational cooperation approach of AOFFTECH, a project bringing together partners from Spain, Portugal, France and Ireland to promote the deployment of floating offshore wind energy in the Atlantic Area. The initiative takes a joint approach to the sector’s technological, environmental and governance challenges, fostering knowledge exchange between offshore experimental platforms, the development of ESG criteria for sustainable deployment, and stronger capacity-building and cooperation among the stakeholders involved.
RENEW brings together the international scientific and technological community around marine renewable energies, including floating offshore wind, wave energy, tidal energy and multi-use systems, establishing itself as one of the sector’s leading forums.
